Stacking The Shelves #16

Saturday, August 06, 2016

is hosted by Tynga´s Reviews and is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

The past week was one hell of a week – at least when it comes to books.

It Ends With Us is on my pre-ordered list now for quite some time. And a couple of days ago it finally arrived.
I thought long about buying the newest Harry Potter, though I was jumping into the air when I got the news that there would be a new story about him. But then I saw the prize and winced a bit. I am a huge HP fan, no doubt about that, but paying that much only for a few script pages didn´t seem ok at the time. Until a few days ago; the prize dropped all of the sudden and I heard so many different opinions about it, that I bought it.

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Lily hasn´t always had it easy, but that´s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She´s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up – she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily´s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He´s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily, but Ryle´s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan – her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn´t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-aged children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Reviewer´s copy

Unrivaled by Alyson Noël
Everyone wants to be someone. Layla Harrison wants to leave her beach-bum days for digs behind a reporter´s desk. Aster Amirpour wants to scream at the next casting director who tells her “we need ethnic but not your kind of ethnic”. Tommy Phillips dreams of buying a twelve-string guitar and using it to shred his way back into his famous absentee dad´s life. But Madison Brooks took destiny and made it her bitch a long time ago. She´s Hollywood´s hottest starlet, and the things she did to become the name on everyone´s lips are merely a stain on the pavement, ground beneath her Louboutin heel. That is, until Layla, Aster and Tommy find themselves with a VIP invite to the glamorous and gritty world of Los Angeles´s nightlife and lured into a high-stakes competition where Madison Brooks is the target. Just as their hopes begin to gleam like stars through the California smog, Madison Brooks goes missing … And all of their hopes are blacked out in the haze of their lies.

Conquer Me by Geneva Lee
Alexander had the world at his feet and me on my knees until secrets tore us apart. I should stay away from him. I should run. But I´m addicted to him … to the pleasure and the pain. He warned me about his dark side … about his past. But I have a dark side, too. Together we´ll conquer our demons … if we don´t destroy each other first. Love doesn´t always conquer all, but it can Conquer Me.

  5. Wonderful selection of books this week, Vi! I just put a hold on the Harry Potter book at my library and I am only #370 on the wait list! I should get it in no time (as in never). Oh well. I spent way too much money on books over the last few months, so this is my penance. Have fun reading them.
